Public relations of UNESCO Chair on Water Reuse of University of Tehran reported that a joint virtual session was held by the two UNESCO chairs in water on Esfand 25, 1400 (March 16, 2022). In the beginning of the meeting Prof. Sarrafzadeh presented his warm congratulations to Prof. Zaidi and Qatar University for establishing this new chair and welcomed him to the UNESCO Water Family. The two chairs were introduced to each other and decided for international cooperation based on desalination.
The session was attended by Prof. Zarghami, Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Tehran, Prof. Sarrafzadeh, Chairholder of UNESCO Chair on Water Reuse, and Prof. Syed Javad Zaidi, Chairholder of UNESCO Chair in Desalination, Qatar University and several other colleagues from both sides. Prof. Zaidi first provided a summary of goals and projects and plans of UNESCO Chair in Water Desalination.
 
The research areas of the Qatari chair were discussed, focusing on reverse osmosis, and regarding fouling mitigation, wastewater management, membrane synthesis, applications of nanomaterials and pretreatment processes. Consequently, considering the experiences of UNESCO Chair on Water Reuse in the aforementioned areas, a joint international conference on membranes as well as foundation of a research center on membranes were proposed. 
 
Prof. Zarghami invited Prof. Zaidi and other colleagues such as the head of Center for Advanced Materials to visit UT in near future. The session was closed with introducing coordinator persons from both sides to follow up the next steps of collaborations and organize scientific joint sessions.
